We hung out around the gulf shores area afterwards.

Saturday: we woke up and we had to take Christine to meet her mom because she had to go home for her cousins birthday party. After we dropped off Christine...we went to a hibachi grill...one of my favorites. Next we went to the new Bass Pro Shop this was a lot of fun I had never been there before so I learned so much. I must say it is one of the coolest stores. After we left we headed back towards my family's house and went out on the boat and tried to fish, however, there are no fish out this time of year. Oh well we still had fun! When we went home it was time for dinner...my dad cooked some amazing food. That night we went to the Foley Outlet Mall and had a good time. when we arrived back at my house we started a fire and attempted to get warm.

Sunday: we meet back up with Christine and her family and eat at cracker barrel. Then we set off for our journey back to college. This was exactly what we needed to get away from the school for a weekend. That night I went to a super bowl party with some friends!

So I can only hope this semester gets easier or I get used to the hard work.

"Christmas Break"~!

So......I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas!

This christmas with my family was quiet....there were no little ones....it was almost all the usuals. LUCKILY IT WAS STILL ON THE ROAD WHICH THE HOTEL WAS ON. I AM TERRIBLE WITH DIRECTIONS WHEN I CALLED MY FRIENDS AND ASKED FOR HELP THEY IMMEDIATELY HANDED THE PHONE TO THEIR DATES SO THEY COULD GIVE ME DIRECTIONS. THE FIRST THING THEY ASKED WAS WHERE I WAS SO I EXPLAINED I WAS ON POPLAR.....AND BY A BIG BUILDING. THEY SAID THAT DOES NOT HELP MUCH THERE ARE TONS OF BIG BUILDINGS ON POPLAR. THEY TOLD ME WHERE I NEEDED TO GO. APPARENTLY I HAD GONE TO FAR DOWN ON POPLAR. I FOLLOWED THE WRONG CAR WHEN I GOT A CAR LENGTH BEHIND WHEN WE PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE.

ONCE WE ALL ARRIVED AT THE SUITE. WE MEET UP WITH THE OTHER TWO COUPLES AND CHECKED INTO THE SUITE.

THAT NIGHT WE WENT TO RONDAVOU WHAT IS KNOWN AS "THE BEST BBQ YOU WILL EVER EAT" FOR DINNER. IT WAS AMAZING! AT OUR TABLE WE HAD 12 PEOPLE.(THE 7 OF US FROM MY SUITE, CORY,2 GIRLS, AND ANOTHER COUPLE) WHICH THIS MADE THE NIGHT QUITE INTERESTING WHEN THE BILL CAME. APPARENTLY WHEN YOU ARE IN A PARTY OVER 6 THE BILL HAS TO BE ALL IN ONE.SO WE WERE QUITE SURPRISED WHEN WE SAW THAT THE WILL WAS $100....WE SPENT QUITE A DEAL OF TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE COULD ALL PAY FOR THIS IN CASH....WE PULLED OUT A PEN AND DID A MATH PROBLEM WITH EVERY ONES ORDERS.....IN THE END ONE OF THE GUYS CORY PUT IT ALL ON HIS DEBIT CARD...OF COURSE WE ARE ALL GOING TO PAY HIM BACK! WE WERE SO FORTUNATE THAT HE WAS SO NICE AND WAS WILLING TO PUT THE TAB ON HIS CARD.

AFTER DINNER WE WHERE DOWN TO 10. WE DECIDED IT WOULD BE NICE TO TAKE THE TROLLEY AND SEE WHAT MEMPHIS WAS ALL ABOUT. THIS WAS AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE. APPARENTLY THE TROLLEY TAKES MANY BREAKS ON ITS VOYAGE THROUGH THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS. THIS MADE THE RIDE A LOT LONGER THAN IT WOULD NORMALLY BE. ALL OF US MADE USE OF THE TIME AND HAD A GREAT TIME....AND TOOK SOME CRAZY PICS ON THE TROLLEY. WE RODE ON THE TROLLEY UNTIL IT ARRIVED AT BEALE STREET. WE WANTED TO WALK THE STREETS AND SEE WHAT IT WAS LIKE. BOY WAS THIS AN INTERESTING SIGHT. IT WAS LIKE NOTHING I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.

ONCE WE HAD DONE THE WALK AND SEEN ALL OF WHAT WE WANTED TO SEE OF DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, WE WENT BACK TO OUR CARS.

ONCE THE SEVEN OF US ARRIVED BACK AT THE HOME WOOD SUITE, THE COUPLES EXCHANGED "HAPPIES" THIS IS WHEN THE DATES EXCHANGE GIFTS TO ONE ANOTHER. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS TRADITION. SO IT WAS QUITE INTERESTING WATCHING THE COUPLES EXCHANGE GIFTS. MY DATE TAYLOR STRINGER WAS UNABLE TO COME UP UNTIL SAT. AFTER THIS WE WENT OUR SEPARATE WAYS AND THE GUYS WENT UP TO THEIR SUITE.

SATURDAY WHEN WE WOKE UP EVERYONE TOOK SHOWERS AND GOT DRESSED FOR THE DAY. THE FIRST THING WE DID SATURDAY WAS AT 11:00 WE WENT TO THE MEMPHIS ZOO. THE ZOO WAS THE PRETTIEST ZOO I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. IT WAS RECENTLY VOTED THE BEST ZOO IN THE "NATION" I'M NOT SURE IF THAT'S THE RIGHT WORD. ALL OF US HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE ZOO AND TOOK SOME AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHS THAT WILL HELP US REMEMBER OUT EXPERIENCE AT THE MEMPHIS ZOO. I ENJOYED THE ZOO SO MUCH THAT I BOUGHT A SOUVENIR: AN ADORABLE PANDA BEAR STUFF ANIMAL. I KNOW THIS MAY SOUND CHILDISH BUT I LIKE IT....ITS A WAY TO REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES THAT WE HAD. WE SPENT ALL MORNING AT THE ZOO.

AT ABOUT 1:00 OUR STOMACHS WERE GROWLING IT WAS TIME TO FIND FOOD. ON THE CAR RIDE FROM THE ZOO TO LUNCH I CALLED MY DAD'S OLD SECRETARY WHO RETIRED AND MOVED TO MEMPHIS ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND TOLD HER HOW I WAS IN MEMPHIS THIS WEEKEND FOR A FORMAL AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER IF SHE HAD TIME. SO WE ARRANGED TO MEET AT THE SUITE AND 3:30. WE WENT TO O'CHARLEY'S FOR LUNCH. OFF COURSE I ORDERED MY FAVORITE BEYOND FAVORITE THING CHICKEN QUISADILLAS!

AFTER LUNCH WE WENT TO A STORE AND BOUGHT SOME THINGS FOR ME TO MAKE FOR TAYLOR'S HAPPY! I BOUGHT HIM A RED STOCKING AND A RED BOX AND FILLED THEM WITH TEDDY GRAMS, CANDY CANES, RED GATORADE,BROWN/BLACK DRESS SOCKS, MIKE&IKE'S,ETC.

ONCE WE GOT BACK TO THE SUITE TAYLOR AND MY DAD'S SECRETARY ROSEMARY WERE WAITING IN THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO EACH OTHER...FOR ME. HE HE...SO WHEN TAYLOR WALKED UP TO THE CAR AND GAVE ME A HUGH I CALMLY TOLD HIM OH BY THE WAY YOU ARE ABOUT TO MEET MY DADS OLD SECRETARY. THE MEETING WENT VERY WELL. ALL OF MY FRIENDS WERE SUPER NICE TO HER. EVERYONE WENT INTO THE SUITE. ROSEMARY AND I VISITED FOR LIKE 30 MINUTES AND WE CAUGHT UP WITH EACH OTHERS LIFE SINCE SHE IS BASICALLY PART OF MY FAMILY. WHILE SHE WAS IN OUR SUITE I GAVE TAYLOR HIS HAPPY BECAUSE MY FRIENDS REALLY WANTED TO SEE HIS REACTION. HE LOVED IT...I THINK..HA HA. SO I GUESS IN A WAY TAYLOR HAD THE APPROVAL OF A FAMILY MEMBER BEFORE WE WENT TO FORMAL TOGETHER.

ONCE ROSEMARY LEFT...TAYLOR AND I CAUGHT UP AND WATCH THE ALABAMA FLORIDA GAME. HE GAVE ME MY HAPPY AT THIS POINT, WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVED. AN ADORABLE TEDDY BEAR, AN IDENTIFICATION CARD, AND A PICTURE ALBUM WITH PICTURES IN IT. WE DID NOT REALIZE HOW MUCH TIME HAD PASSED. WE WERE TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.I PRETTY MUCH TOLD HIM MY FAMILY HISTORY FROM A-Z. YEAH I'M A VERY TALKATIVE PERSON.WE TALKED UNTIL IT WAS ALMOST THE BEGINNING OF THE 4TH QUARTER OF THE GAME WHICH THAT WAS A BAD THING BECAUSE WE HAD TO BE DRESSED AND READY TO LEAVE FOR THE FORMAL IN AN HOUR. Thanksgiving Break~!~!

This week has been so much fun!

I absolutely love being around family!

Tuesday night I hung out with my best friend and went to dinner; we had a good time.

Wednesday night I hung out with another one of my good friends and went to dinner and a movie. This evening was a great time.

Thanksgiving day my family and I went over to my cousin's house and ate lunch.

This event was a lot of fun. For the past few years the sets of families seem to have gone their separate ways and doing their own thing, but this year it was nice. We had almost everyone join and eat Thanksgiving together.

Saturday was the best day--it was the Iron Bowl. For those of you who do not know what the Iron Bowl is, it is when the Alabama and Auburn football teams play one another. The Iron Bowl has been the biggest rivalry game for the state. I love going to watch the teams play. I went with four of my family members. Alabama won 36-0. I was excited to see the score, because Alabama has not beaten Auburn in six years.

I hope everyone had a nice break!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/11/12-thanksgiving-break.html' title='12. Weekend Wedding

This weekend I came home because my cousin got married yesterday afternoon at 2:00.

I came home after my friday class's. When I got home we went to my favirote restraunt.

It was a good to see my whole family this weekend. The wedding itself was quite beautiful!
Everyone looked gorgeous! The reception was quite simple everyone ate simple snack food. The cutting of the cake was not even announced. I had never been to a Baptist wedding before so it was interesting to see the difference in a baptist wedding and an episcopalian wedding.

After the wedding my family went over to my cousins house to meet our newest editon to the family my new cousin Marshall. It was a lot of fun meeting him. I love baby's.

This weekend was a lot of fun, I do not really want to drive back to MC to go to classes for two days but I have to. Thank goodness Thanksgiving break is almost here.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/11/11-weekend-wedding.html' title='11. My trip to tuscaloosa

Friday at 2:00 I went on a road trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I was going to tuscaloosa to meet my dad, sister, and nephew for the Alabama v. Mississippi State football game. I was the first of my family to arrive at the hotel. I did not have any of the information to check in so I waited in the lobby for my dad to arrive.

while I was waiting in lobby I saw some of the hotel employees putting up a red rope going acoss the side of the room. People started showing up and sitting down with me waiting this made me curious so I asked one of the men sitting down what was going on. The answer I received was the football players are about to come through. This was exciting because I had no idea that they did this. Supposidly every friday night before a home football game the Alabama players stay in this hotel and have there meetings there.

I got to see coach Nick Saban walk down and head into the room where they were going to have meetings and eat dinner. shortly after that the football players followed, they were all dressed up in suites. Most of the players went strait up to their room and put there stuff up. Some followed coach saban. I got to see the two players that I knew on a first name basis. I was able to see Cory Reamer who I had meet before and spent some time with one fourth of July. I also saw my friend Mark Barron who I graduated from high school with. It was nice to see him. He looked different than what I remembered.

After all of the excitement of seeing the players my family arrived. Once we checked in we went up to our rooms and put our stuff down. Then we ate dinner in the hotel restraunt. Once we were done eating dinner and started walking back to the elevator to go to our room, we noticed that their were more people standing behind the red rope. Once again we asked what was going on and they said, The players will be back from their movie in 30 minutes if you want to get autographs. Because my nephew had never been to an Alabama game, we waited for the players to come. when they arrived we were told that they could not give any autographs yet because they were late for a meeting, but they would be back in about 15 minutes to give autographs. So we waited again for what seemed like forever. Coach Saban was the first one to come out and give autographs. I got to meet him, and shake his hand he seemed to be a nice guy.
My nephew was able to get a few autographs from the well known players so this made him happy. I was able to have my picture taken with Cory so I was happy.

Saturday when we woke up, we went to the Bryant museum. This was alot of fun, I had never been to see it before. I enjoyed learing a little bit about Alabama football's history. We walked around the streets of tuscaloosa and went in what seemed like all the souvineer shops. It was quite a cold day and because the game was not going to be until 6:45 PM we were buying all the warm things we could get. I had to get gloves, scarf, and a hat to keep me warm. I did not want to freeze. My dad had the brilliant idea of buying a blanket to either sit on or to keep whoever was the coldest warm.

By the time the game rolled around we were all dressed in so many layers. The game was alot of fun. Alabama won 32-7. We had a little bit of weather that was not expected it rained on us for about 5 minutes on and off. It made us a little cold. I had not put my raincoat on as one of my layers because rain was not in the forcast. Well despite the rain all went well and we had a great time at the game, and in tuscaloosa as well.

Roll Tide Roll!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/11/10-my-trip-to-tuscaloosa.html' title='10. Mystery Date~!

This week was a great week!

Friday I gave a tour to one of my friends from My high school St. Paul's Episcopal School. It was like nothing I had ever done before. It was alot of fun! It was a good experience for me to be able to talk about my home town and catch up with everything. I took him to jazzman's, the health plex and he even sat in on my history class. which it was weard.. he got to experience seeing us take a quiz, have a lecture and even watch a movie(which we never do). I meet his family they were all really nice. I had lunch with them. They were really thoughtful and brought me pedifores from my favirote bakery at home Pollman's bake shop.

Friday night Nenamoosha had there mystery date. So about a month ago we turned in a note card with 5 names of guys that would be our possibilities of who we would have a date with on mystery date. So by the time Saturday had rolled around I had completely forgotton who I put down on my note card. The way it was set up was somehow the girls in charge of the event got the ties of our dates and delivered them to us. Attached to the ties was a note that said: meet your date at the kugle and ten til eight Friday November 7....in order to find your mystery guy Dress up nice and wear this tie!

So...ten til eight rolled around..my Friend Katybeth and I sat at the kugle patiently waiting to see who are mystery guys were going to be. To my surprise I saw Brian Richardson walking up. He said,"You stole my tie". We waited for the other two dates to show up. Once we all accounted for we started walking and followed the crowd.

The party was on the brick streets in downtown clinton. when we arrived there was black and red bags lined up down the streets with candles in them. There was an orchastra playing. Once they packed up and left the Disney move Aristacats played. I admit this was quite halarious I had not seen this movie in forever. They ended the movie about 15 minuted early. After that we had a dance. We danced in the streets until we were exhausted and it was time to leave.
Mystery date 08 was alot of fun and I will never forget it.

Sarurday morning I woke up and went to the "lets go walking mississippi campaign" this was a 1 mile walk around the streets of clinton. I am really glad that I did this. Not only because it was a way of getting my exerice, but I felt like it was a great way to give back to the community of clinton. Saturday was preview day for the school. It was alot of fun. The tailgate kicked off at 11. Tailgates are always alot of fun. It is a great time for you to get together with you friends and socialize and eat. Each tribe and social club sets up a tent and provides food. I helped set up the Nenamoosha tent. I meet back up with my friend that I had given the tour to the previous day. I took him around all the different tents and showed him what a tailgate is like at MC, and a little about the different clubs and social tribes. After the tailgate he and I went to the game. I sat with him in the student section to give him the effect of a MC football game. This was alot of fun. He had to leave at half time to ge to a family wedding.

I stayed and watched the entire game against Sulla Ross sate. It was a fun game to go to we won 41-10! GO CHOCTAWS!

Today at 2:30 I became an active in Nenamoosha Social tribe when I was pinned!

All in all I would sum it up and say this weekend was awesome!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/11/9-preview-day.html' title='9. Tuesday morning I had a 9 am flight to Washington D.C. D.C is one of my favorite places to go. Most of my siblings live there so it is a fun for me to visit them. This trip was quite different.

The reason why I went to D.C was 0n Wednesday October 29, 2008 my Grandmothers urn was burried in the Arlington National Cemetary. It was like nothing I had ever been through.

When we arrived we where held in a small room where the family was able to get together. We waited for the man who was in charge of the cemetary to come and get us. This man got in a small black car. We were insructed to get in our cars and get in a line following behind him so we could be escorted to the burial site.

When we arrived at the burial site. We where instructed to huddle up and look at the small black car as two men dressed in a military attire where walking around(I am not sure what force). One of the men got the urn out of the car and proceeded walking towards the burial site. Behind him followed the other military escort, the preacher, and the head of the cemetary. The family followed behind them.

When we arrived at the burial site there where four green chairs sitting behind the table which had a green felt table cloth over it with the white urn sitting in the middle. I had never seen an urn before in my life. Her urn was white with brown hands on it.

Ther service was short and sweet. The preacher spoke for about 3 minutes. Then my brother in law gave a speach. I think the service lasted about 7 minutes. During the service I heard a fire of a cannon. As we where leaving the service I heard the 21 gun salute. This was really cool aspect. At the time I was not quite sure what was going on I had to ask. Now I know a little more about what the history is behind the 21 gun salute after looking at the website for the cemetary.
After the service we went back to my sisters house and the family got together and talked and eat.

If you have never been to the Arlington National Cemetary. I suggest that if you can, some point in time in your life go see it. It is a beautiful place. All the graves are parallel. If you go to the highest point of the cemetary the sight you will see is unbelievable.

I was in D.C tuesday through thursday morning. This was one of my shortest trips to D.C. It was good to see my family, and get a chance for closure.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/11/8-washington-dc.html' title='8. Homecoming

This weekend was a lot of fun it was homecoming 08!

Friday night was follies....follies is where all the pledges of the tribes and social clubs put on skits for everyone else. Friday night was quite entertaining. It was interesting to see what the other tribes and social clubs had come up with. I was in Nenamoosha's skit our theme was save by the bell. All of the skits were different so it was fun seeing them.

After the skit we had building of the homecoming floats. Which the name of that game was to stay outside in the parking lot by the baseball field and work on your flaot until it was completely done. This was a lot of fun. I helped work on Nenamoosha's flaot we stayed and worked on it until around 2:30 in the morning. The theme of this years homecoming was generation choctaw. so we decided to decorate our float half 1954 dance theme and the other half 2008 sock hop.

Homecoming day was a lot of fun in itself. The tailgate kicked off around 2:00. At 2:15 there was a cheer competition between all the tribes and social clubs. once again this was quite entertaining to see what everyone had come up with. After the tailgate there was the homecoming parade. It was a lot of fun we rode down college street. I got to be on the Nenamoosha float on the 1954 side dressed in a black poodle skirt. It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed getting to dress up. Nenamoosha also had a fire truck in the parade. 10 of the pledges got to ride on the float. some got to ride in the fire truck, the rest walked beside the float throwing candy.
The homecoming game was fun. I am sad that we lost.
After the game there was a bonfire. The bonfire was also fun... we had smores and soft drinks and hung out by the fire.

This weekend was a lot of fun! Although from all the excitement that went on I will admit that I am exhausted.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/10/7-homecoming.html' title='7. Age Discrimination

Yesterday I was like the "Energizer Bunny". I was going nonstop all day long. I was so talkative.
I did something I never do. I stayed up half the night writing my english paper. Normally when I am writting a paper I do the minumim requirement for the assignment or just past it. For some strage reason I got on a role and just wrote. By the time I was finished typing out my thought I had a eight page paper. Which anyone who knows me at all would know that this is something that I never do. I always wait until the last minute to get the things I need to do done. I am sure that my roommate thought that I had lost my mind last night.
Anyways let me get to what I really wanted to say in this blog entry.

My roommate loves to skate. Yesterday evening she decided that she really wanted to go skating. So I agreed that I would go with her even though I am not good at skating at all. She called a bunch of her friends and invited them to go with us. many of them were interested but had other obligations for the night. One of the girls that lives in the room next door to ours decided that she would like to come with us.

So here is where the adventure truely begins. We set of in search of a skating ring that my roommate knew that she had seen somewhere on the road between MC and walmart. We searched for about twenty minutes. we could not find what we were looking for. We had driven about a mile to far and somehow missed it. The skating ring was located right next to one of the things that I has just pointed out and said I did not know that we had that in Clinton. I have not gone out and adventured to see what all is in clinton yet so much of the territory that we covered
I had never seen before.

Once we arrived at the skating ring: we saw a big school bus that was covered in advertisement for them. When we walked up to the door it was locked but all the lights were on. The signs that were on the outside of the door said that it should be open. This mom and her son walked out the door and we took the chance and walked in. When we walked in the lights were really dim. The lady at the counter looked at us like were stupid. My roommate asked, "why was the door locked when the sign says that yall are open"? once again she just looked at us like we were stupid. Then the lady said," We are open on the specific times that are posted on the door". Once again we were confussed. Then the lady said to us, " We said we are open these times for ages five through twelve". My roommate asked," When are yall open for the public"? In a rude tone we heard, " We are not open to the public only for kids."

The point of me telling yall about my experience yesterday is that, I feel like this was age discrimination. Why would they have a skating ring so close to MC if they would not let anyone that is not a child to participate? College kids want to have fun just as much as kids do. Why should we be limited to something that might interest us such as: Skating?

The Mc mission statment states, "Furthermore, the University environment promotes the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development of its students and encourages them to utilize their skills, talents, and abilities as they pursue meaningful careers, life-long learning, and service to God and others". The way I enterpret this statement it means we should be able to go out and do the fun things that we want to do and not be limited because we are not the age that the certain place is requiring. After all what does age truely mean?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/10/6-age-discrimination.html' title='6. Fall Break~!

I must say I am so happy that it Fall Break!

Last week was quite a challenging week. I had one quiz, two test and a huge paper. I was quite stressed out the entire week. The only thing that really kept me motivated was the fact that fall break was so close.

I have loved being able to relax this weeknd. I came home once again this weekend to see my family. I have been having a great time here. It is nice coming home and knowing that i do not hve to come home on sunday afternoon...I can actually stay until tuesday afternoon.

I hope since I get the opportunity to have this break that next week will not be so much of a challenge. If it is...well at least its only a three days worth of school right?

This weekend I am trying to fit in all of the things that I love to do in. so far I have accomplished quite a lot of them.

There was one really fun thing that I got to do last week and that was my tribe has sophmore night on thursday we first went in a room on campus and played a bunch of board games, then we got to spend the night with the sophmore of our choice in their dorm room. This was a lot of fun.

This is about all I have to say so I hope evey one had a great FALL BREAK!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/10/5-fall-break.html' title='5. "Oh Shirley"

This entry is dedicated to Shirley Lowry Rummel.

So I woke up Friday morning having the best morning ever. I was in a great mood. The night before I had gotten into Nenamoosha, the tribe that I wanted. I had woken up at 6:30 to get to a breakfast at 7 with my new sisters. Nothing was going to bring me down. I was so excited that I was coming home this weekend to go to my god brothers wedding. And it is also the best weekend ever is going on in Mobile, Alabama Bay fest.

So when I got home I was expecting the best weekend ever. Well as soon as I walked into the door I saw my mom and my godmother sitting in my living room and they said to me sit down we have some bad news to tell you. I found out that my grandmother Shirley Lowry Rummel had died Thursday morning. She had been diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of the summer. She had chemotherapy and radiation throughout the entire summer. About a month ago she was told by her doctor that the cancer was gone. Once my grandparents found out this news they decided they were going to go to their house in Pennsylvania and live there for a month.

My Grandmother was the sweetest grandmothers anyone could ever ask for. She was an amazing person. She will always hold a huge piece of my heart. Here are some things that will always remind me of her: I will never forget how every Saturday morning when she used to live next door to me at my bay house how I would go for breakfast. She would always cook me whatever I wanted no matter what time of day it was. My favorite thing she would cook was grits. She also used to home make the best biscuits in the world. She was always so considerate others. One thing she used to always do was whenever she did something that she thought was silly or that she should not have done she would say “ Oh Shirley”. My cousin Bradley and I have picked up this trait from her. I am constantly saying this. Every time I do something silly I will always think of her. She was known as “Nanny”. She was probable one of the best people I have ever known.

I was reminded by my godmother of what my grandmother said to me on the night of my 19th birthday. She toasted me and said “you have made my life worth living for the past ten years, and I love you”. I did not realize at the time how much those words would mean to me at the time. Now looking back on that day those words are more valuable to me than anyone could ever know.
My grandmother was always cleaning the house and cooking. One thing that makes me happy is the fact that I know that she is in a better place. She is somewhere now where she can be happy and not have to deal with all the things that were bad towards the end of her life. She is someplace where she can live in a frame house (just like she always did) which has a water front view, a place where she does not have to do any cleaning. All she has to do is sit there and look beautiful watching over all of us.

<atomicelement id="ms__id215"></atomicelement>So I ask this one question: Why has god chosen to take this amazing woman away from us?

I leave my readers with this advice: remember that god works in mysterious ways you cannot predict what he is going to do.

3. Weekend/MC

This weekend has been a lot of fun!
I went to Rush skits on Friday and Saturday night! They were alot of fun..there was a theme to each one and you had to dress accordingly. This made it quite interesting for the first one we had to drees like a pirate or a ninja that was a fun one to do. 2ND we had to dress as a shoe..there were definitely some really cool ideas that people came up with. 3rd we had to dress like we were going on a hot date or like our favorite vegetable. 4Th we dressed like dancers. I really enjoyed getting to dress up for each of the skits.

I have stayed at MC the past two weekends...but now i am really ready to go home and see my family and friends.

Don't get me wrong I love it here and My new friends..but i am getting homesick.
I am a family oriented person. so it has been really hard for me being at college and being away from my family.

I love how MC has the idea of being one big happy family but it just is not the same. There are lots of things on the MC campus that go on campus. which i am going to most of the things to try and fit in.

I am really looking forward to being in a tribe because they seem like the perfect way for me to figure out how to find a "family" here at MC.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/09/3-weekendmc.html' title='3. It is hard for me to actually sit down and do what I need to do for my classes. I am one who gets destracted way to easily so I am trying to figure out a way to get the things I need to do accomplished. I am sure adventually I will figure out what it takes to do well in my classes. Until then I am simply going to try my hardest and figure things out one day at a time.

So on a happier point of view my week did get better when I went to the general interest meeting thurday night for the tribes. We had our first official project of the rush process on saturday morning. We woke up on Saturday morning and gave back to the community we helped improve a building and make it a better place. It made me feel like a better person after giving back to the community.

Saturday afternoon I went to the first tailgate for our first home football game. It was alot of fun. I am very proud of our football team and the victory we had last night 44-7.
GO CHOCTAWS! After the game I went to the freshman fund raiser fith quarter at the piazza.
It was alot of fun..for those of you who did not go maybe you will get to next time.

So I guess in a way my problem is I stress myself out when it comes to school..when I am doing bad in a class it really gets to me. Then I feel all I can do is study for that class to improve well myself in a way and try to get a better grasp on what is going on in that particular class. so to keep myself from overstrssing my self about school I try to be involved in as much as I can in the fun things that go on around campus..which this leads back to the fact that I get completely distacted way to easily. So My goal for my self this year is to try and balance this out were I can be both social and do the things I need to for school with out being stressed.

1. My Life Lately

In the past few weeks I have entered a new envirement.
With this new envirement I have encountered several fun experiences.
Last weekend I went to a dance-a-thon on Friday night and learned how to swing dance. It was really cool. I did not expect to have as much fun as I did. I went with some of my new friends from on my hall. I like the whole idea of a dorm how if you want to go do something with a friend you don't have to call a friend as ask if they want to do something. All you have to do is go next door and ask if they want to do something.
I have been trying to keep up with and do most of the social things that have been going on on campus. One thing I am really looking forward to doing is being in a tribe. I am not sure which one I want to be in. The whole rush process starts this week. I am looking forward to this because it is a way of meeting new people. I came to Mississippi College not knowing anyone so I really have to go out and meet people.
My intended major is Graphic design. So this weekend I came home to Mobile, Alabama to get the things I need for my art class. I really enjoyed being home this weekend because it gave me the chance to get all my things together. I also enjoyed watching the Alabama football game with my family. My grandmother who has been sick but now she is doing better came over and watched the game with us.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://carolinejackson101k.blogspot.com/2008/09/1-my-life-lately.html' title='1.
