Yesterday I was like the "Energizer Bunny". I was going nonstop all day long. I was so talkative.
I did something I never do. I stayed up half the night writing my english paper. Normally when I am writting a paper I do the minumim requirement for the assignment or just past it. For some strage reason I got on a role and just wrote. By the time I was finished typing out my thought I had a eight page paper. Which anyone who knows me at all would know that this is something that I never do. I always wait until the last minute to get the things I need to do done. I am sure that my roommate thought that I had lost my mind last night.
Anyways let me get to what I really wanted to say in this blog entry.
My roommate loves to skate. Yesterday evening she decided that she really wanted to go skating. So I agreed that I would go with her even though I am not good at skating at all. She called a bunch of her friends and invited them to go with us. many of them were interested but had other obligations for the night. One of the girls that lives in the room next door to ours decided that she would like to come with us.
So here is where the adventure truely begins. We set of in search of a skating ring that my roommate knew that she had seen somewhere on the road between MC and walmart. We searched for about twenty minutes. we could not find what we were looking for. We had driven about a mile to far and somehow missed it. The skating ring was located right next to one of the things that I has just pointed out and said I did not know that we had that in Clinton. I have not gone out and adventured to see what all is in clinton yet so much of the territory that we covered
I had never seen before.
Once we arrived at the skating ring: we saw a big school bus that was covered in advertisement for them. When we walked up to the door it was locked but all the lights were on. The signs that were on the outside of the door said that it should be open. This mom and her son walked out the door and we took the chance and walked in. When we walked in the lights were really dim. The lady at the counter looked at us like were stupid. My roommate asked, "why was the door locked when the sign says that yall are open"? once again she just looked at us like we were stupid. Then the lady said," We are open on the specific times that are posted on the door". Once again we were confussed. Then the lady said to us, " We said we are open these times for ages five through twelve". My roommate asked," When are yall open for the public"? In a rude tone we heard, " We are not open to the public only for kids."
The point of me telling yall about my experience yesterday is that, I feel like this was age discrimination. Why would they have a skating ring so close to MC if they would not let anyone that is not a child to participate? College kids want to have fun just as much as kids do. Why should we be limited to something that might interest us such as: Skating?
The Mc mission statment states, "Furthermore, the University environment promotes the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development of its students and encourages them to utilize their skills, talents, and abilities as they pursue meaningful careers, life-long learning, and service to God and others". The way I enterpret this statement it means we should be able to go out and do the fun things that we want to do and not be limited because we are not the age that the certain place is requiring. After all what does age truely mean?

That's kinda retarded that they didn't let you skate.
i agree i think you should protest in front of the building..haha
This is a good idea to go skating. If your protest successfully, I also could go skating, haha...
I don't know if it should be considered age discrimnation. I do believe it is not a good choice for that skating rink. They are loosing out on alot of profit that they could be making off of MC students and others.
You have a very good point. I like to skate, so I should be allowed to do so.
i agree with Peng..let's go protest..College kids like to have fun too. that sucks that they were like that.
Down with discrimination!!! I'm sorry you guys didn't get to go skating...I wonder why they have that rule???
Every time I go to Wal-Mart I see that skating rink and I was really excited because I loooove rollerblading...but i guess I won't get to because I'm 7 years to old : (
that sucks. you should write a complaint to their owner... maybe they can make a College Night or something once a week.
